&lt;br/&gt;In October 2006, the Brew House on Pittsburgh's South Side will host The Eighth Annual Black Sheep Puppet Festival. The Black Sheep is an international showcase of contemporary innovations in puppetry as an art form and performance medium. It is well known in the industry for its willingness to embrace bold experimentation and ability to challenge the boundaries of this ancient and traditional art. At eight years in a row, it is also one of the longest and steadiest festivals in the world.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;A month-long series of events highlights the craft, community, education, and performance aspects of puppetry. The Eighth Annual festival is extremely fortunate to welcome Artist-in-Residence Beth Nixon for a collaborative gallery installation created with Pittsburgh community groups.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;This year's festival is curated by Tom Sarver along with guest curator Morgan Andrews.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The Black Sheep Puppet Festival is made possible by The Brew House Association, the Heinz Endowments, an anonymous donor, Performance Lighting, and individual contributions. The Brew House ia 501c(3) non-profit organization.

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The following is a schedule of events for October, 2005. All events will be at the Brew House. Tickets for the performance weekend may be purchased in advance through ProArts.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Friday, October 7 - Gallery Opening. 7-10 pm. Free and all ages. Featuring puppets created by 25 artists and puppeteers, both local and national. The exhibit will run through October 22nd. Gallery hours are 6-9 pm, Wed and Thu; 12-6 pm Sat.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Saturday, October 8 - Children's Puppet Making Workshop. 11 am - 1 pm. Free and all ages. The children will work with instructors and volunteers to learn how to use recycled materials to make their own operable puppets.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Saturday, October 8 - Puppet Demonstration. 1 pm. Free and all ages. Local puppeteers demonstrate their own creations and traditional puppets.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Friday, October 21 - Performance Main Event, First Night. 7 pm - midnight. $15. Recommended for adults. 5 hours of cutting-edge national and international puppet performances and films. Here are performance descriptions. All acts will perform both nights.

&lt;br/&gt;Saturday, October 22 - Puppetry Lecture. 5 pm. Free and all ages. Pittsburgh puppeteer Gregory Knipling presents a lecture on the history of puppetry.
